Valley of Fire
Artwork ID# 2306-39125-9
Valley of Fire State Park derives its name from the brilliant red, Mars-like features in its landscape. Foremost among these is the red Aztec Sandstone which formed 150 million years ago, when the area had huge Sahara-like sand dunes bordering a shallow inland sea. This image describes the landforms at first light, precisely at sunrise.
