Detailed close-up of Liesegang Bands ( Liesegang rings ) within eroded Navajo Sandstone , located in the North Coyote Buttes area of the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness in Arizona. Within this backcountry, undeveloped wilderness area one can find some of the most visually striking geologic sandstone formations in the world.
Burnt Sienna, orange, purple, salmon, gold and yellow. Curving lines define flowing abstract patterns within Navajo Sandstone. Here the Colorado Plateau shows us the peculiar exuberance of rhythm, pattern, and grace which has made it world-famous.
